Not true: Angelina Jolie has released a statement through her publicist today denying media reports that her and Brad Pitt are adopting a baby girl from Haiti
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have shot down rumours that they are on the verge of adopting a child from Haiti.
The couple were said to be in the 'latter stages' of adding a baby girl called Lean into their brood.
But a spokesperson for the actress, who has three biological and three adopted children, has denied the reports.
'There is no truth to these rumours', the statement said, referring to a story published in a British tabloid.
'Rather, Ms Jolie is focused on enhancing the welfare and legal protection of children within Haiti.
'As such, she has been meeting with government of Haiti officials, Haitian legal experts and non-governmental organizations regarding a new initiative of the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
According to Adam Waldman of Endeavour, Jolie has never even met the Haitian girl called Leah that was the focus of the adoption rumours.
No new addition: The couple have three adopted children and three biological children
Reports claimed the adoption process was in the 'latter stages of authorisation' and that the child was going to make a trial visit to the U.S.
This was going to be done to 'make sure Leah will adapt well', before being permanently placed with the Jolie-Pitt's six other children.
Mr Waldman said of Jolie's feelings about the story: 'She just didn't want these false rumours to go unchallenged and interfere or distract from work in Haiti'.
Jolie adopted son Maddox, nine, from Cambodia in 2002, Zahara, six, from Ehtiopia in 2005 and Pax, seven, from Vietnam in 2007.
She also has three biological children with Pitt - four-year-old Shiloh and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
